Sail this ship to calmer seas.

The mini projector inside my skull rolls through the days spent along the great ocean road in black and white, flashes of pink with lots of lines. The coastline is flanked by death at sea, empty space and harsh weather. It's really very beautiful.

There must be lots of colonial time love stories untold, the best that never was must be the story of Eva and Tom at Loch Ard Gorge.

I wonder what happened to all the native Australians during this time, the original people would of seen nothing but the changing blues and greys out to sea until the ships started to arrive. The lack of real Australian history told makes me sad, you have to seek it out to read it.

The small towns and all the empty space along the Victorian coast is the best reminder of what was. Here at home in the city I'm increasingly being enveloped by advertising and blank faces. My neighbours ignore me while I'm wave at them with good intentions, all the obsolete but still working technology filling our drawers and the wafting need for more brings me down. Any coastline brings a sense of relief, but the Victorian coastline is just a little bit more special.

Pictures taken with my Canon 30D, Iflord HP5 film emulator and illustration (pen on paper) overlays.

Thank you to dreamboat for taking my picture on my handy lumix DMC camera.

P.S. It's easter Friday today, happy easter!

Welcome to The 7th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT7)

On a recent weekend I made my three yearly appointment at GOMA for The 7th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT7) if you haven't already get your little bottom down to GOMA! The exhibition is beautiful & amazing.

My top three fave works would be Raqib Shaw's amazing and extravagant paintings...

Parastou Forouhar's beautiful room will make you feel something...

and lastly the vertical village 'Living together in paradise' by Nguyen Manh Hung, a work about everyday life in Vietnam.

It was a lovely weekend. We drank some Asahi's and I doodled compulsively for the last few hours of the afternoon.

My visit to APT#7 was very nicely timed, it's all happened very suddenly but this weekend I'm actually heading back to Vietnam for a few weeks. I spent some time travelling around South East Asia 3 years ago,  my time there left such an impression on me. It prompted me to buy my first digital SLR camera and dramatically changed my outlook on life. Every trip overseas I've made since has made me feel this pang of guilt & betrayal - I would fly right over and right past the region.  South East Asia is definitely my favourite region in the world and I probably could talk about it for hours.  I'm really excited to have this opportunity arise (Yep, I won a trip via Intrepid Travel. I WON A TRIP EEEEEP!) and return ... I'm really looking forward to my experiences a second time around.

Happy times to you and see you when I get home.
